I keep getting a syntax error that says unexpected keyword 'else' I don't understand why it's unexpected I've gone over the code at least 15 times and can't figure out where the error is, I even checked the hint and my code has everything the hint has, please help, thank you.

var compare=function(choice1,choice2)
{if(choice1===choice2);
{
    return"The result is a tie!";}
     else if(choice1==="rock"){
        if(choice2==="scissors")
        {return"rock wins"
        }
        else{
        return"paper wins"
        }
    }}
