When I start the code, I get a prompt that says "Enter a word:". After inputting, there's a second prompt that just says "prompt." When both have entries, it always comes up "empty."

print 'Welcome to the Pig Latin Translator!'

# Start coding here!
raw_input("Enter a word:")
original = raw_input('prompt')

empty_string = ""
if len(empty_string) == 0:
    print "empty"

else:
    print raw_input

Write this as a single line, like you have on line 2

original = raw_input("Enter a word:")

This code contains errors...

raw_input() is a function and should not be treated as a variable.

if len(original) > 0:
    print original
else:
    print "empty"
