Challenging Stuff

Well, for me anyway.

I’ve been through the basic SQL and HTML training here and I’ve started with CSS. I also know the beginnings of JavaScript and I’m about 1/3 through the course here.

I thought I was doing all right until I hit Flexboxes and Grid, but maybe it’s too much for me to take in all in one month. I found a couple of neat little games online where you can practice, and of course Codecademy has a lot of great stuff with the projects and the quizzes, etc. I’m kind of a dinosaur - I’ve spent my career in print design and in something like InDesign if you want to lay something out, you can do it more or less by eye. Doesn’t take much thought about which properties or values to use or how you’re factoring your statements and stuff to just click the box button in InDesign and drag out a box on the screen.

Ah well, I guess it’s a good thing that I can reset my progress and go back over stuff here again. Just frustrated. Probably like drawing or playing an instrument or anything else; the more time you spend with it, the better you’ll become. I’m also thinking about a little supply calculator project for work. They don’t need me to design a calculator, (I’d only be reinventing the wheel), but it’ll be good practice.
