Cannot input '$' in the console. Stuck on Aliases II: echo $USER

Hey guys!
Not quite sure how to proceed here.
The on screen keyboard doesn’t work, neither does ‘$’ have a Alt+**** shortcut
How can I input it?

Not quite sure how this helps. Ctrl+C only shows the cursors position :confused:

Edit: $ has the Alt+36 shortcut not mentioned on most sites.
