Build Rock, Paper Scissors 7.What if choice 1 is paper. - Syntax error

#1

Hi guys, I'm having trouble with https://www.codecademy.com/en/courses/javascript-beginner-en-Bthev-mskY8/1/3?curriculum_id=506324b3a7dffd00020bf661#
Build Rock, Paper Scissors 7.What if choice 1 is paper.
Here's the code I'm currently using, tried different things but it keeps repeating "SyntaxError: Unexpected token else".
Any advice on what to edit would be greatly appreciated, thank you :).

/*var userChoice = prompt("Do you choose rock, paper or scissors?");
var computerChoice = Math.random();
if (computerChoice < 0.34) {
computerChoice = "rock";
} else if(computerChoice <= 0.67) {
computerChoice = "paper";
} else {
computerChoice = "scissors";
} console.log("Computer: " + computerChoice);*/

var compare = function(choice1 , choice2) {
if (choice1 === choice2) {
return "The result is a tie";
}

else if (choice1 === "rock") {
if (choice2 === "scissors")
return "rock wins";
}
else {
return "paper wins"; }
}
else if (choice1 === "paper") {
if (choice2 === "rock") {
return "scissors wins"
}

#2

else if (choice1 === "rock") {
if (choice2 === "scissors") // here need a { bracket
return "rock wins";
}

else if (choice1 === "paper") {
if (choice2 === "rock") {
return "scissors wins"
}
// and here you forgot to close ( } ) one for else if and second for the function.After closing the function you have to call the function.

i hope it'll help you :slight_smile:

Thanks for that! Shocking how something so small can make such an issue in these exercises. Cheers mate :L aha
