Bug in a lesson - Intro to Functions lesson 1?

#1

In lesson 1 ([https://www.codecademy.com/courses/javascript-beginner-en-6LzGd/0/1?curriculum_id=506324b3a7dffd00020bf661#]) I get the following error:

"Oops, try again. It looks like you didn't print the correct string. Check your condition in the if statement, and your console.log statements."

Here's my code:

var speed = 65;

// Complete the condition in the ()s on line 4
if (speed>80 ) {
	// Use console.log() to print "Slow down"
	console.log=("Slow down")
}
else {
	// Use console.log() to print "Drive safe"
	console.log=("Drive safe")
}

The exercise is asking to output "Drive safe", which is what's happening. The output seems correct, and yet it won't let me proceed.

Anyone else run into this?

Hi You should remote The = after The console.log
Then refresh The page

#3

Thanks for the reply.. I have tried that, and removing the = after console.log then returns the error

"Oops, try again. Your code doesn't look quite right. Check the Hint if you need help!"

Whereas with the = sign it at least executes the code and outputs "Drive safe" to the console.

Did you refresh the page after?

#5

Ah! There it goes. Thanks! I had refreshed the code, not the actual page.

I appreciate your help!
