Broken tutorial

#1

part “5. Making a Request” is broken. I follow the steps and doesnt work. Even copy and pasting the hint answers dont work. gives “NetworkError: A network error occurred.” on console, and “Oops, try again. Did you console.log(xhr.status)?” as user error

Please post a link to the exact exercise so we can investigate the issue. Thanks.

Thank you for providing a link to the exercise.

Same for me: How to use APIs with JavaScript: 5. Making a Request .

The code is executed on the codecademy server, right? Otherwise my local PC’s firewall might be blocking it.

#6

Can someone fix this?

Its been two months or give us a way to skip broken exercises… smh

This course uses the old learning environment, which is no longer supported. As such, the exercises are also no longer supported, so bugs might occur. Given its no longer supported, its not featured on the main website, you have to go through great trouble to find it, which should be a red flag

Upgrade to the most recent version of the course:

https://www.codecademy.com/learn/introduction-to-javascript

this exercise is broken but can be cheated:

var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest();
xhr.open("GET", "https://www.codecademy.com/", false);
// Add your code below!
xhr.send();

CC = {}

CC.printed = function(){
    return true;
}

console.log(xhr.status);
console.log(xhr.statusText)
