Binary numbers?

It’s the exact same thing as the numbers you’re used to. But instead of 9, the highest digit is 1.

When you’re at all 9’s you add a 1 at the front and fill the rest with zeros. Same thing in binary, after 111 it’s 1000

The first (rightmost) digit is the amount of ones. There can be one or zero, because those are the only options.

Each digit is worth twice (2) as much as the previous one instead of ten (10) times.
