Background-image showing white borders

Hi, I am new at css but I’m trying to get a background image to cover the width of the page. The problem is that this is giving me white space on the sides. Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

Since this project is offline, i include a print screen of both the CSS and the visual of the website.

thank you so much!

Hi,
browsers have default CSS styles. There are paddings and margins defined for some elements that are applied unless you overwrite them.
The best is to reset those styles with this rule:

* {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}

The * addresses all elements.

Hi, that doesn’t seem to work. as soon as I were to switch to position: relative (or absolute), i can make it appear just fine. problem is that I have this background-image in a parent file. so that means that all elements after this hide behind the background image.

If you set an element to position: absolute, it ignores the margin and padding of its parent. So that still makes me suspect that it’s a margin or padding issue.
Can you post the html and css as formatted code here?
