Advice needed for resolving a React error!

Hello everyone! My name is Allie Newton :smiley: I’m currently learning React, but I can’t get it to run locally on my computer. My OS is Windows 10.
I have installed React by typing npx create-react-app followed by the directory name into git bash as instructed by this article
Everything seems to install correctly, but once I cd into the project folder and enter npm start I get this error: ./src/index.js 1:59
Module parse failed: Unexpected token (1:59)
File was processed with these loaders:

  • ./node_modules/@pmmmwh/react-refresh-webpack-plugin/loader/index.js
  • ./node_modules/babel-loader/lib/index.js
    You may need an additional loader to handle the result of these loaders.

$RefreshRuntime$ = require(‘C:/Users/anewt/Documents/Allie’s_Folder/Projects/React_Projects/myfirstreactapp/node_modules/react-refresh/runtime.js’);
| $RefreshSetup$(module.id);

Can anyone please tell me what this error means and how to fix it?
Thanks! :smiley:
