Yes, the & operator is the one to use here, rather than the | operator. You can pass this exercise by using the correct operator to peform the calculation.

However, Codecademy would really like the user to figure out what the result should be and to print that value without using the operator in the code. This is to provide the user with practice figuring out the details regarding what the & operator does with each possible combination of bit values.
