9. Previous Slide 2 Issue

#1

Hello everyone. I've run into an issue... I keep getting the error "Remember to fade out the current slide and remove the 'active-slide' class." I believe there's a parentheses missing somewhere, but I've worked with it for a long time and can't figure it out. Any help would be excellent! Thank you!

Here's my code:

var main = function() {
$('.dropdown-toggle').click(function() {
$('.dropdown-menu').toggle();
});

$('.arrow-next').click(function() {
    var currentSlide = $('.active-slide');
    var nextSlide = currentSlide.next();

    var currentDot = $('.active-dot');
    var nextDot = currentDot.next();

        if (nextSlide.length == 0) {
            nextSlide = $('.slide').first();
            nextDot = $('.dot').first();
        }
$('.arrow-prev').click(function() {
    var currentSlide = $('.active-slide');
    var prevSlide = currentSlide.prev();

    if prevSlide.lenth == 0) {
        prevSlide = $('.slide').last();
    }
});

    currentSlide.fadeOut(600).removeClass('active-slide');
    nextSlide.fadeIn(600).addClass('active-slide');
    prevSlide.fadeIn(600).addClass('active-slide');

    currentDot.removeClass('active-dot');
    nextDot.addClass('active-dot');
});

};

$(document).ready(main);

@schneider123,

++ the build of FLIPBOARD script ++

The structure of the =main= function should look like

var main = function() {
     //Begin of =main= FUNCTION-BODY
        $('.dropdown-toggle').click(function(){
              $('.dropdown-menu').toggle();
        });

        $('.arrow-next').click( function() {
             //code which gets executed when =click=ed
        });
        $('.arrow-prev').click( function() {
             //code which gets executed when =click=ed
        });
     //End of =main= FUNCTION-BODY
};

And the =main= function should be executed when the document is fully loaded and READY

$(document).ready( main );

==============================

+++++ flipboard click Eventhandler structure
Within the =main= function

var main = function() {
     //Begin of =main= FUNCTION-BODY
       //your code
     //End of =main= FUNCTION-BODY
};
$(document).ready( main );

you are placing =click= Eventhandlers,
which are attached to specific HTML-Elements by using
a jQuery-Selector.like $('.arrow-prev')

var main = function() {
     //Begin of =main= FUNCTION-BODY
        $('.arrow-prev').click();
     //End of =main= FUNCTION-BODY
};
$(document).ready( main );

Now as a so-called argument of the =click= Eventhandler
you are placing a so-called anonymous function

var main = function() {
     //Begin of =main= FUNCTION-BODY
        $('.arrow-prev').click( function() {
             //code which gets executed when =click=ed
        });
     //End of =main= FUNCTION-BODY
};
$(document).ready( main );

Still can't get it :disappointed: Here's my revised code...

var main = function() {

$('.dropdown-toggle').click(function() {
    $('.dropdown-menu').toggle();
});
$('.arrow-next').click(function() {
    var currentSlide = $('.active-slide');
    var nextSlide = currentSlide.next();

    var currentDot = $('.active-dot');
    var nextDot = currentDot.next();
    var duration=5;
        if (nextSlide.length == 0) {
            nextSlide = $('.slide').first();
            nextDot = $('.dot').first();
        }
});

$('.arrow-prev').click(function() {
     var duration=5;
    var currentSlide = $('.active-slide');
    var prevSlide = currentSlide.prev();
     var nextSlide = currentSlide.next();
currentSlide.fadeOut(duration).removeClass('active-slide');
nextSlide.fadeIn(duration).addClass('active-slide');
    if(prevSlide.length == 0) {
        prevSlide = $('.slide').last();
    }
currentSlide.fadeOut(duration).removeClass('active-slide');
nextSlide.fadeIn(duration).addClass('active-slide');

});

});

$(document).ready(main);

@schneider123,
1. Look at the structure of the =main= function
2. Read the Steps closely...!!!!
