Hello, I'am a little bit confused...I donn't know exacltly why I should use it...

results = []

This is known as initializing as an empty list. When we wish to collect a number of items in a list, we start by first assigning an empty list to a variable. This one is aptly named for what it will contain... Results.

At some point in the code we will see values appended to this list.

results.append( ... )

where ... represents the value being appended.
