Why doesnt this code work? I’m getting an error saying that i didn’t create a varible called “word”. Am I missing something?
pyg = ‘ay’

original = raw_input(‘Enter a word:’)

if len(original) > 0 and original.isalpha():
word = original.lower()
first = word[0]
print word
print first
else:
print ‘empty’

Might you try without the print statements (before the else) and see if that satisfies the step? Appears there are none asked for in the instructions.

Hello! I have the same problem, tried to remove the print statement, still, when i click “run” it runs for a long time, and then i get “false”, no error message below, and i can’t move on to “next”. Also, the code was already written, so basically you just have to click “run”, but it doesn’t work. :woman_shrugging:
