7. What if choice1 is paper (unexpected token)

#1

I keep getting this error:

SyntaxError: Unexpected token else

I've tried to search the forum for a solution but nothing is working. Can some one help?

var compare = function(choice1, choice2) {
    if(choice1 === choice2) {
        return "The result is a tie!";
    }
    else if(choice2 === "scissors") {
        return "rock wins";
    }
    else {
        return "paper wins";
    }
}
    else if(choice1 === "paper") {
        if(choice2 === "rock") {
            return "paper wins";
        }
        else {
            return "scissors wins";
        }
    }
};

When is else used?

#3

I figured it out. Apparently my code in lesson 6 was wrong but somehow it still let me pass to lesson 7.

Where was your code wrong? I'm getting the same error and am wondering if I made the same mistake as you did.
