When I submit, it returns "none," and the red box says, "get_average(alice) raised the following error: list indices must be integers, not str"

I do not know what I need to change. Please help

# Add your function below!
def average(numbers):
    total = sum(numbers)
    total = float(total)
    return total / len(numbers)

def get_average(student):

    quizzes = average(student["quizzes"])
    tests = average(students["tests"])
    return homework * .10 + quizzes * .30 + tests * .60

Hi, @wduns37 ,

You have this as a function header ...

def get_average(student):

The parameter is student. Make sure that you have used that name correctly in all statements where it needs to appear within the function.
