I have no idea what my problem is but the error i am getting is :SyntaxError: missing before statement

var bob = {
    firstName: "Bob",
    lastName: "Jones",
    phoneNumber: "(650) 777-7777",
    email: "bob.jones@example.com"
};

var mary = {
    firstName: "Mary",
    lastName: "Johnson",
    phoneNumber: "(650) 888-8888",
    email: "mary.johnson@example.com"
};

var contacts = [bob, mary];

function printPerson(person) {
    console.log(person.firstName + " " + person.lastName);
};

function list() {
    var contactsLength = contacts.length;
    for (var i = 0; i < contactsLength; i++) {
        printPerson(contacts[i]);
    }
};

/*Create a search function
then call it passing "Jones"*/

function search(lastName) {
    var contactsLength = contacts.length;
    for (var i = 0; i < contactsLength; i++) {
        if (lastName === contacts[i].lastName);
            printPerson(contacts[i]);
            break;
    }
};

function add(firstName,lastName,email,phoneNumber) {
    var contacts[contacts.length] = {
        firstName: firstName,
        lastName: lastName,
        email: email,
        phoneNumber: phoneNumber
    };
};

add("Houman","Homayouni","soimething@gmail.com","1234567890");

Run code through another interpreter such as your browser to get a better error message

[stdin]:41
    var contacts[contacts.length] = {
                ^
SyntaxError: Unexpected token [

The above is from nodejs, firefox has a scratchpad if you hit shift f4, chrome has snippets in the dev console, there are websites that expose your browser's javascript interpreter in the page as well, such as repl.it
