3. One selector to rule them all

#1

My code :
p {
border: 1px dashed #3A5FCD;
}

"Oops, try again. Did you remember to add a border of color #3A5FCD around every element? "
What is problem? I try on Google and Firefox

#2

you use the wrong css selector, p will only target the paragraphs, use * (universal selector) to target everything

#3

thank you very much:slight_smile:

Help: I'm using the correct code, but still getting the "oops" message. The dashed, blue border displays in the "result," but the message persists.

(This is the same issue I had with lesson #25--also about borders.)
My code:

  • {
    border: 1px dashed 3A5FCD;
    }

Much thanks,
Nik

What is the error message? Are you sure your browser zoom is set to 100%?

#6

When I was investigating the Q&A for lesson 25, I saw the note about the zoom, so I was sure to double check mine. It made no difference to reset to 100%.

Here's the error message: "Oops, try again.
Make sure that you use the universal selector * to give a border 1px wide"

After quadruple checking the code and the Q&A, I went back to the menu, and selected the next lesson, and proceeded with no trouble.

But I'd still love to know if I made an error--so I can know how to catch it (and better yet, to not make it in the future).

Much thanks,
Nik

Okay, it could be your browser is sending cached data, try a different browser to get a new connection

Thanks, stetim94. I was using Firefox. I did lesson 3 ("One Selector...") in Chrome, and it worked.
I appreciate the feedback and suggestion.

Cheers,
Nik
