The semi-colon is missing in the provided code.

I made the same mistake, and wondered why it worked when I put display:inline; at the top of li{}.

This code should be updated so others aren't fooled by it. Though, it's a decent test, I suppose.

Add padding all around. Padding, right,left, bottom, and top.
Padding-top and so on. Example padding-top:5px;
