12. Bad Aim (clarification needed)

The instructions are unclear in a couple regards:

1) After your new if: statement, add an else: that contains your existing handler for an incorrect guess.
- I don't know what a handler is, but if I add the existing code for an incorrect guess again, it is then printed on-screen twice instead of once.
2) (Hint): "The valid values for guess_row are 0 to rows-1 and the valid values for guess col are 0 to cols-1. You will need to build up a complex Boolean expression of the form:"
- The example of a "complex Boolean expression" is missing from the hint. I have AdBlocker paused and the codecademy domain is whitelisted in Ghostery, so it seems the information is simply not there.

from random import randint

board = []

for x in range(0, 5):
    board.append(["O"] * 5)

def print_board(board):
    for row in board:
        print " ".join(row)

print_board(board)

def random_row(board):
    return randint(0, len(board) - 1)

def random_col(board):
    return randint(0, len(board[0]) - 1)

ship_row = random_row(board)
ship_col = random_col(board)
guess_row = int(raw_input("Guess Row:"))
guess_col = int(raw_input("Guess Col:"))

print ship_row
print ship_col

# Write your code below!
if guess_row == ship_row and guess_col == ship_col:
    print "Congratulations! You sank my battleship!"
else:
    print "You missed my battleship!"
    board[guess_row][guess_col] = "X"
    print_board(board)
    if guess_row not in range(len(board) - 1) or guess_col not in range(len(board) - 1):
        print "Oops, that's not even in the ocean."
    else:

handlers simply means a piece of code which handles a certain scenario.

so then you get the following (pseudo code):

# if user guesses correctly
if hit:
    print you won
# else handles if the user didn't get the ship
else:
   # different scenarios for missing
   # check if user guess is on board
   if not on board:
       print let the user know the guess is not on board
   # else to update board and let the user known they guessed wrong
   else:
      print you missed
      update board

this seems to be a bug on codecademy side, i will pass it along
