# 11. making a purchase

#1

See, I'm having the same problem and my code is identical the one posted above including suggested fixes. I wrote it properly in the first place from what I can tell, but I'm still getting the same error. Here's my code:

shopping_list = ["banana", "orange", "apple"]

stock = {
"banana": 6,
"apple": 0,
"orange": 32,
"pear": 15
}

prices = {
"banana": 4,
"apple": 2,
"orange": 1.5,
"pear": 3
}

def compute_bill(food):
total = 0
for food in compute_bill:
total += prices[food]

Thoughts on this?

Never mind. I figured it out. Here's the code that I wrote to make it work:

shopping_list = ["banana", "orange", "apple"]

stock = {
"banana": 6,
"apple": 0,
"orange": 32,
"pear": 15
}

prices = {
"banana": 4,
"apple": 2,
"orange": 1.5,
"pear": 3
}

def compute_bill(food):
total = 0
for item in food:
total += prices[item]
print compute_bill(shopping_list)

#3

Code seems to be right

def compute_bill(food):
total = 0
for item in food:
total += prices[item]

the error i get back is function compute_bill returned 4 instead of 2
???

For the last line try putting in:

print compute_bill(shopping_list)

That seemed to fix it for me.
